A Letter From a Scholar: Jade Ng
Gratitude. A word so simple, yet it could be interpreted as something else. A simple “thank you” could either be a quick sign of gratitude or a phrase where they genuinely appreciate your kindness.
Countless people have encountered this feeling. Anyone would come across gratitude whenever they would ask someone a favor or a request from a person. This reason, though, must not be the only cause as to why we should be thankful. And, to me, it is a noteworthy commodity because without it, how would we show our appreciation? How would we react to being shown goodwill?
I may not be able to give a sufficient level of “thank you” to everyone I have met, but I will never stop feeling appreciative of everyone who has made an impact on my life. I thank my parents, who love me wholeheartedly. I thank my siblings and friends, who continue to give me company and happiness throughout my youth. My school, Mano Amiga, where I grew as a student and as a person, and where I was given a chance to continue my education amidst the pandemic. The kindness that its community provides us is something that I will forever cherish, from the relief goods to the interaction that students and parents receive from its staff.
No words can describe how lucky and thankful I am for having such a wonderful and fruitful life, a life where I have experienced ups and downs, failures and victories, and more. I have come such a long way, not wasting a breath on thanking everyone and everything that has accompanied me in this journey of living.
