It has been six months since the Philippines started its lockdown, and the lives of many have drastically changed since then. Filipinos have been struggling to make ends meet and keep their small businesses afloat during the pandemic, with others already announcing temporary or permanent closure.

This year, Unilever and Shopee have teamed up again for the annual #BeautyThatCares sale to help support small local businesses who have been affected by the pandemic. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will go directly to Mano Amiga's Skills for Success Grant and Training Program, which will help small local businesses start, sustain, or scale their business. Qualified applicants will be given a monetary grant and undergo a training program, which consists of two tracks:

the Startup Business Track, and the Growing Business Track. Those assigned to the Startup Business Track will undergo online training on the basics of entrepreneurship and social media marketing, and will learn to apply these to their business and adapt to the times we are facing. Those assigned to the Growing Business Track will undergo similar training, but will also go through Shopee's Training Program. Through this program, Shopee will hold a workshop where sellers can learn about the different features of the app, and be guided through a step-by-step process of setting up their own shop. Applicants must have the following requirements:

1) Small business with a minimum of two (2) and maximum of fifty (50) employees.

2) Has access to internet connection in order to join virtual training sessions.

3) Has been in business for at least three (3) months by October 2020.

Solo-run businesses with at least a five-month track record by October 2020 may be considered.  Interested applicants may start applying now until October 15, 2020. Shortlisted applicants will be then invited for an interview. Qualified sellers will be contacted by Mano Amiga Philippines via email, and can expect a response on their application within two (2) weeks time.
