Mano Amiga's Thanksgiving Brunch: Celebrating 15 Years of Kindness
At a time where kindness seems to be in short supply, Mano Amiga’s Thanksgiving Brunch reminds us that hope is not lost. To celebrate the kindness and generosity of the supporters and benefactors who have helped sustain the mission for 15 years, we hosted a heartwarming brunch last October 11 at the Manila Polo Club. This event wasn't merely a token of appreciation; it was an opportunity to illuminate the incredible narratives of transformation that Mano Amiga has ignited in the hearts and lives of countless individuals.
From Gratitude to Inspiration
We gathered our passionate supporters and sponsors for a day that would resonate long after the plates were cleared and the conversations ceased. It was a day of gratitude, a day to give thanks to those who've made our mission possible, and a day to inspire.
The journey commenced with Lynn Pinugu, our Executive Director, who recounted the difficult yet inspiring path of the last 15 years. Her words echoed through the room, a testament to the spirit of perseverance, as she highlighted the triumphs achieved through the unwavering generosity of benefactors.
Stories of Resilience and Transformation
Yet, there was no better demonstration of Mano Amiga's transformative impact than the story of Christian Jade Carreon, last school year's Integer Awardee. As a current freshman at National University, CJ embodied the values instilled in him by Mano Amiga. He painted a vivid picture of how the school had shaped him, turning financial constraints into mere hurdles on his path to fulfilling his own mission.
But the stage was not his alone to grace. He was joined by two current students, Mary Djarwin "MJ" Pestaño, a Grade 3 student, and Liane Andrea Rañin, currently in 9th grade, for a riveting panel discussion. It was an exploration of personal missions, and how Mano Amiga had provided the compass and resources to navigate their journeys.
As the brunch continued, the audience was serenaded by Benn Marr Pauig, a Grade 9 student at Mano Amiga, whose melodious voice added yet another layer of depth to the celebration. His performance was a reminder of the diverse talents nurtured by the school.
MJ and Liane returned to the stage, this time to interact with the audience. They answered questions with an insight beyond their years, sparking a sense of wonder and admiration. Their remarkable responses served as a living testament to the transformative power of the holistic quality education that Mano Amiga offers.
Sustaining the Torch of Hope
To close the program, Mr. Virgilio Peña, President, and Chairman of the Board, stepped forward. His words, delivered with unwavering conviction, served as both a call to action and a torch to light the path ahead. He urged everyone present to embrace the challenge to continue the cycle of generosity and kindness to sustain Mano Amiga's mission - to transform lives and communities, one scholar at a time.
The Thanksgiving Brunch was not just an event; it was a celebration of gratitude, inspiration, and commitment. It was a testament to the unwavering belief that through education and compassion, we can give a brighter future for those who need it most. As Mano Amiga Philippines enters its 16th year, our mission is not just sustained but magnified, as we continue to touch lives, one heart, one scholar, one community at a time. It's a mission of gratitude that will resonate for years to come.
